How to replace a border with a number in a table?

I am using a table in word where I want to remove a border and replace it with a number so it looks like there's a line then "170" then the line continues, I am using word 2002 vista, I have tried using the creates "small text below the baseline" but its too small and on the line, thanks in advance"
